Who I am

Picture of me and Yury in front of Horse Guards ParadeWhere does one start when talking about one self? Since a number of years, I have been living and working in the United Kingdom, in London to be precise. Before that, I spent most of my live in my country of origin, namely Belgium, where I was born in the 60s in Leuven(1). I have also lived for short periods of my life in France and Spain.

I have always had broad interests, and that is reflected in my education, where I have studied a variety of fields including history, linguistics, geography, didactics, docimology and psychology. Yet, most of my professional career has been dominated by my work in Information and Communication Technology (ICT).

Someone said once that I am a modern type of renaissance man, someone with wide interests in a variety of different fields and with the ambition to be as good as possible in what I do. Since the archetype of a renaissance man is no other than Leonardo da Vinci, I felt really flattered by that description!

I firmly believe in a secular world, in clear separation between state and religion. I also firmly believe in a social order whereby any individual, regardless of origin, race, religion, etc is given the opportunity to lead a fulfilling life, to develop themselves and to develop their full potential as individuals.
